From the creators who brought you Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, Turtle Rock Studios brings us a a new co-operative multiplayer shooter, and the way its meant to be played.... Evolve
Evolve is a 4 v 1, first person, third person co-operative shooter. Confusing? Well it is actually quite simple. Each match consists of 5 players, 1 player controls giant monster in third person, and 4 player controls hunters in first person.
Each one of the hunters plays an important role in the game and team, in which you have to all work together in order to survive. The classes are Trapper, Hunter, Assault, and Support. The objective of the hunters is to hunt down the monster as soon as possible, as the monster gets more powerful as time goes on. Assaults deals a high amount of damage and Medic has the job to heal the team and try to disable the monster, Trapper hunts down and tries to coral the monster into a single area and Support has abilities that are offensive and defensive.
As the monster, you are trying to take out the 4 hunters. Tactics are to avoid the hunters early on and for as long as possible. You job is to hide and eat in order grow and become stronger to evolve into a bigger creature. Eventually being able to evolve and turning the tables, making you the hunter and the others the prey.
This is a unique experience and a new way to play as a true co-operative team. If one player isn't pulling their weight, then the monster will definitely have the upper hand. Being the monster, you have the ability to evolve into an unstoppable force if given enough time and make the players your prey. The game is highly anticipated and from the gameplay trailers it looks like it will be a fun experience. In some ways it gives the feeling of L4D and L4D2 multiplayer where the 4 characters fight through the map, except in evolve its just you 4 and the powerful Tank type class.
The game is currently available for pre-order and is set to release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on December 31, 2014. Give us your thoughts on the game and if you are looking forward to it.
