E3 2015 Day 1

A few of us here at EVGA were lucky enough to head to Los Angles on Tuesday, June 16th, 2015 for E3!  We headed out early that day around 8:30 AM from Orange County since we were expecting to get that famous LA traffic, which we did.  Stopped for breakfast at Philippe’s The Original which has been around since 1908!  Great spot if you are ever in LA to check out and get a quick bite to eat.

Around 11:30 AM we headed over to the Los Angeles Convention Center.  The view form street passing by toward the parking structure welcomed us to the gaming event of the year!  After parking, we headed over to get our name badges and check out the entrance to the South Hall of the convention center.

Walking right into the South Hall we were greeted with a full scale replica of a post apocalyptic car from the Mad Max video game.

Going up the escalator to the second floor, we were able to get a birds eye view of all the people waiting to get into the main hall.

Once the doors where open and we were able to get into the main hall, you get bombarded with lights, sounds, and big very big displays from the big major companies.  We checked out some of the Ubisoft offerings.

The Destiny area had a closed off section with a very long wait to check out the new content coming out soon.

With all the buzz around the new Fallout 4 game, the Bethesda booth was taking full advantage of the popularity of the game.  Unfortunately, there was not actual demo that we could play.

The new DOOM trailer was on display along with a life sized hell demon which was available for photos, and yes that is a fake chainsaw in the corner which you could hold for the picture.

One game that really surprised us was BattleCry.  An arena 3rd person game, similar to Team Fortress 2, which has a twist on the characters, character abilities and game style, was a lot of fun.  Warrior class, which I played, has a few AOE effects swinging a two handed hammer around like a crazy person.  Trying to take over key points in the demo map, and defending them was fun and exciting.  I would definitely suggest checking the game out, which was said to be a free to play game when released.

Over to the 2K Games booth, which had XCOM 2 and Sid Mier's Beyond Earth's next expansion pack called Rising Tide, to be released Fall 2015.

From 2K Games is another action arena type game called Battleborn pictured below.

Clearly the star of the day was the chance to be able to play the Star Wars Battlefront demo!  We headed to the EA booth and followed the very very long line around the booth towards the very end of it..

Once at the very end, we realized that it may take upwards of 2-3 hours in wait time in order to get in and play the demo.  Luckily one of the members of EA/Bioware was walking around passing out "Disneyland type" fast passes?!? Which had a specific time to come back and be able to get in front of the line, bypassing the people waiting in line for hours.  So, we took our Fast Passes and headed off to check out the rest of the hall.

Back at around one we got into the Fast Pass line, they took the fast pass and led us into a corridor styled after the Rebel base on Hoth!  We did run into a few familiar faces, the first of which was a Rebel Pilot in full gear, greeting us and available for photos..

Around the corner we found another favorite, R2D2 who was guarded by staff member who prevent us from touching R2D2, and thus we moved on further into the corridor.

In what seemed to look like a holding room or more so a War Room, where we found another familiar face, C3PO.  Without any guards, we were able to check out the display and take some awesome pictures.

After a short introduction from briefing from the one and only Admiral Ackbar and the "It's a Trap" comments, we were let out to our battle stations!

We were able to play the Hoth demo, of which there are trailers/videos on our Star Wars: Battlefront article.  I can 100% say that the game quality that you see in the trailers is the same amazing quality that we experienced in the demo.  It was truly the best part of E3 and an amazing experience!

Exciting the battle stations after the demo, there was a very awesome display of a downed T-47 airspeeder and an Imperial Snow Speeder, which you could get on for a photo!

Thus concludes the Recap of E3 Day 1.  An awesome experience each year and every time we  attend it just keeps getting bigger and better with more awesome games to see and experience!
