The Evil Within; Have what it takes to survive?

Shinji Mikami is credited for the creation of the popular survival horror series Resident Evil.  The most recent release from his own studio Tango Gameworks is "The Evil Within."
You are Detective Sebastian Castellanos, along with your partners,  Joseph Oda and Julie "Kid" Kidman, are called to respond to a code 1199 at the Beacon Mental Hospital.  You arrive to scene of a mass murder, only to find out that there is something seriously wrong, while in the distance mysterious dark power materialize.  Your worst nightmares from the deepest darkest reaches of your mind come true.

While investigating the crime scene, Sabastians partners are caught and slaughtered while the only thing you can do is watch. You are ambushed and knocked unconscious.  When you awaken, you find yourself in a world which is unfamiliar with creatures materializing who wander among the dead.

As Sabastian, your job, no your LIFE!, depends on fighting for your survival and to unravel what is behind this evil force.  You will face unimaginable horrors, tidal waves and rivers of blood, rotating doors with razor sharp rotating cylinders, and evil at every corner trying to end your existence.  Do you have what it takes to survive?

Although Mikami has said that this will be the last game he directs.  He has promised this to be a "true" survival horror game and "one in which the player confronts and overcomes fear."  The Evil Within is his answer to all the recent survival horror games which are becoming more like action horror games.  Mikami is bringing us back to the core of what a survival horror game should be.

ADS: Active Denial System, allows the player to suppress the enemy microwaves which cause damage over time and prevents the use of their weapons.
Assault Rifle:  Is ideal for short to medium range encounters, with short controlled bursts.
Shotgun:  Lethal in short range, perfect for close-combat players.

Cloak:  allows the player to blend into their surrounding with active camouflage.
Sniper Rifle:  High damage, high accuracy, but with a long ready time.  Designed for patient players who will wait for that perfect shot.

Light Machine Gun:  Most effective at medium range, allowing the player sustained fire from a fixed position.
Shotgun:  Lethal in short range, perfect for close-combat players.

You will have the option of downloading the game the Uplay client or download the game through Steam for free.  Be aware that downloading the game via Steam will still require you to log into your Uplay account to play.  Running the game for the first time, it will give you a tutorial of how to start a match.  Its easy to do, but depending on the number of players online the "matchmaking" may take a bit to find you a game or match you with other players.

You get to choose you class, but as a level 1 you are limited to the weapons and abilities.  Leveling up opens up the higher end abilities which everyone is looking to use and get.  At the start of the game, you see that you are connected like a "flow chart" via lines to the other members of you team.  This allows you to see who is a friendly or foe, and to easily find you team among the field.  First experience, it really reminded me of Counter Strike, but with differently gameplay and visuals.  I'd recommend downloading it and trying it out if you want to take a break from the Call of Duty's and Battlefield's.  Check out the launch trailer below and to download check out the official game page Here.

Black Desert Online

Black Desert is a new title from the Korean game company Pearl Abyss and exclusive to Korea at the moment No release date for the EU or NA has been announced.

The game offers a seamless sandbox world, no loading except for the instances.  The game world has its own day and night cycle that will affect gameplay.  Each day or night is equivalent to 4 real time hours.  As an added feature monsters will be more dangerous and most NPCs will go home during the night.  Some quest will be time specific to day or night which adds to the gameplay.

There are 5 character races in Black Desert which are:  Human, Elf, Giant, Dwarf and Hobbit.  The first 3 have been confirmed, and the last 2 are still to be confirmed.

The Classes Known so far are:  Fighter, Ranger, Sorcerer, Giant, Predator, Valkyrie, Wizard, Blader, and Tamer.  Of them only the Warrior, Ranger, Sorceress and Giant are playable as of the 2nd closed beta.

Characters will have Parkour-like movement, similar to the Assassin Creed style and an active combat system.  You will be able to climb on towers and houses when needed.  The game will also have mounted combat.  There will be open world PvP combat and Siege warfare, where players will have the ability to ride elephants.

The game has a highly detailed housing system and decoration features.  Each house in a city can be purchased and can even be turned into a business as a shop or blacksmith.  When out traveling the world, you can rest in a tent, but it is not as detailed as an actual house.

Now you may be asking yourself, why are you showing me this awesome game that i can't play.  Well, the main reason is because of the amazing and jaw dropping character creation that the game has.  With most MMORPG players, they want to be different and stand out from the others players in game.  No one want to run around and see the exact same character as their own.

Black Desert has the ability to make sure that doesn't happen.  It appears you can spend as much time creating your character, as you would playing the game.  The game gives you the ability to change and customize every single part of your character, and they have the graphics to match.  With a rich and awesome game world which is highly detailed and  adds to the realism of your character.  Still have some doubts, check out the character customization video below.  Also, the first official game trailer below that.  This game has definitely jumped up on my, "must play" list, if and when it gets to North America.  Enjoy!

The Elder Scrolls Online MMORPG

The long awaited release is now live; The Elder Scrolls Online MMORPG was released on April 4th, 2014 worldwide on PC and Mac platforms.  The PS4 and Xbox One versions are soon to follow.  The MMORPG brings Tamriel to life in the online world with you as part of its story, struggles, and outcomes.

With a vast and details character creation, you can enter the world as your own unique champion ready to join in the battle or simply explore the vast open world.  The game will be set in the continent of Tamriel and feature a storyline indirectly connected with the other games. The game will be set a millennium before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and around 800 years before The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, with the Daedric Prince Molag Bal appearing as the main antagonist as he attempts to pull all of Tamriel to his realm of Coldharbour.

Most of the continent of Tamriel will be playable in the game (although much of it will be locked off for expansion content), and players will have the opportunity to join any of the three factions warring over the throne of the Emperor of Tamriel:  The Aldmeri Dominion (represented by an eagle), composed of Altmer (High elf), Bosmer (Wood elf), and Khajiit; the Daggerfall Covenant (represented by a lion), composed of Bretons, Redguards, and Orsimer (Orcs); and the Ebonheart Pact (represented by a dragon), composed of Nords, Dunmer (Dark elf) and Argonians.

As promised by the Game Director Matt Firor "Soon we’ll be unveiling Craglorn, our first Veteran-level, end-game zone tailored for small and large groups which offers lots more hours of gameplay and new areas to explore– and we’ll continue to add new systems and exciting content regularly."

The latest chapter in the cinematic series from the team of Bethesda to celebrate the Launch of ESO is "The Siege.".  What started with "The Alliances" trailer, then "The Arrival" trailer and now "The Siege" trailer, shows the three mighty warriors and their battle rages on. Batman Arkham Knight

Can I just say the trailer for Batman Arkham Knight looks EPIC!!! It also nice to see the return of Harley Quinn. The game is schedule for October 14, 2014 and is suppose to be the fourth and final installment of the Arkham series. The game is based around the return of Scarecrow, the super villain, uniting Batman's enemies in an attempt to finally kill the Dark Knight. One new gameplay feature, that hasn't been seen yet, is the introduction of the Batmobile. The Batmobile has immobilizing missiles, can be summoned at any time, smash through most objects, and can eject Batman so he can glide or grapple around Gotham. If this is truly the last game in the Arkham series it appears it's going to go out with a bang.
