Assassin's Creed Movie Trailer

The movie industry in the past has given us some some attempts at creating different films based on the popularity of a video game.  We all can probably remember some of the more popular ones like  Mortal Kombat, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, the Resident Evil series, and a couple of Hitman movies.  There are also some that we'd rather try and forget like the DOOM movie and Double Dragon movie.  Did you know that there was a Far Cry movie released back in 2008?

I remember going to the movies to see Street Fighter:  The Legend of Chung Li.  I made it all the way through the movie but left feeling very disappointed.  As gamers we expect the movie industry to match the level of greatness behind the minds of the video game creators, story tellers and level designers.  Unfortunately, more times than not we are left with a sub par representation of what we enjoyed playing on the PC or console.

Technology has taken leaps and bounds and it would seem now that we have the means and ability to create some great video game quality movies.  A few days ago, 20th Century Fox and Ubisoft announced the new Assassin's Creed movie.  I am a big fan of the video game series for their incredible story telling, epic level design and their historical content.  Check out the official Assassin's Creed trailer below!

The movie is set during the Spanish Inquisition from what we can gather in the trailer.  The main character Callum Lynch who also plays his ancestor the assassin Aguilar.  Who is best know for his role as Magneto in the last few XMEN movies.  Through out the trailer you see scenes taken directly from the game, such as the Leap of Faith at the end,  the Eagle flying over the city representing Eagle vision, some Parkour moves we love from the game and the hidden blades.  The only part which I was slightly taken back with is the actual Animus device.  Instead of it being some VR machine with a pod like feel to it from the games, in the trailer we see it represented as a giant robotic arm.  It looks cool, and I'd have to wait till the movie comes out to actually see how it is used.  I am still optimistic about the Assassins Creed movie and definitely will be one of the many who will see it on its release day of 12.12.2016!
What are your thoughts on the Assassin's Creed trailer? Let us know about your early expectations.  Should you need something to tied you over till the movie comes out, the be sure to check out the play on the AC video game series starring some cute and deadly Assassin Kittens!

Paragon: New Hero - Grim.exe

Epic Games is on a roll with their new third person MOBA; Paragon! Currently it is in the Early Access stages, which you can join in by purchasing a Founder's Pack, which you can read about here!

A new and unique looking hero will getting added to the Paragon lineup.  Going by the name of Grim.exe, Grim is an imp who controls his sentry combat robot with his every command.  Grim.exe looks pretty intimidating at first glance as you can see below.

You can check out some of Grim.exe's attacks and special moves in the teaser trailer below.  The presentation of the video is also unique and amusing, almost like a "portal-like" introduction.

You will be able to play as Grim.exe after the next update scheduled for Tuesday, May 10th.  This weekend though, Paragon is having their Stress Test weekend from May 5th till May 8th, due to the stress test they are compensating all players with Double XP during this test.
Paragon is scheduled to release Summer 2016, but if you can get you hands on an Beta code or purchase a Founder's Pack, I would definitely encourage you to do so and check out the game. You will not be disappointed. Let us know what you think in the comment section below!

Mirror's Edge Catalyst: Closed Beta/PC Specifications/Delays

The Mirrors Edge Catalyst Closed Beta started on April 22nd to those selected who signed up to participate. Among those, I was fortunate to be selected for the Closed Beta, and I can honestly say that Catalyst is just as fun or even more so than the original game was.

Graphics set to High/Ultra settings makes the game look surreal. I only wish that I had a VR headset to go along with the game to make it just that much more realistic. I bet anyone who is able to run a VR headset with the game will be impressed and scared out of their minds (if your afraid of heights).

EA also announced the PC specifications to run Catalyst, of which they recommended the following:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel i3-3250 / AMD FX-6350. (Note: Mirror's Edge Catalyst requires at least 4 logical cores to run.)
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • Hard Drive: At least 25 GB of free space
  • Video: Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB or better / AMD Radeon R9 270x or better
  • Input: Keyboard and mouse, dual analog controller

  • OS: Windows 10 64-Bit (use the latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 at 3.4 GHz / AMD FX-8350 at 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Hard drive: At least 25 GB of free space
  • Video: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB or better / AMD Radeon R9 280x 3GB or better
  • Input: Keyboard and mouse, dual analog controller

Originally the release date for Mirror's Edge Catalyst was late in May 2016. An announcement by EA the the ME team a few days ago updated everyone with a delayed release date of June 7th (NA) and June 9th (EU). Erik Odeladahi, Design Director, stated "That is why we will give ourselves a bit more time to perfect the game..."

With many games these days feeling like they were rushed and released too early, I do appreciate EA taking the time to make sure their game is a bit more polished and ready for the fans to enjoy without any issues. Event though this cannot always be guaranteed. What do you guys think about Mirror's Edge Catalyst? Will you be picking up a copy? What are your thought on the delay?
